How to Access the Collection

The Vietnam Veterans Oral History Project exists to collect recorded interviews with veterans of the Vietnam War as a way of preserving their stories and experiences for future generations. Few events have had a greater social or cultural impact on the United States than the Vietnam War and this project will allow the voices of the true experts – the veterans– to be heard and preserved.

The director of the Vietnam Veterans Oral History Project at Young Harris College is Dr. Lee March, Harland Chair of Political Science. He has been on the faculty of YHC since 1993 and has taught political science and Vietnam related issues since 1988. His main research interest is the Vietnam War and the impact it has had on America. Dr. March has written a book on the 3rd Squadron, 5th Cavalry and has traveled to Vietnam several times to further his research. He regularly teaches a course entitled “The Vietnam Experience” and is often a guest speaker on the Vietnam era.

The interviews conducted by the Vietnam Veterans Oral History Project at Young Harris College are processed and maintained by the Duckworth Libraries on the Young Harris College campus. The Project is a member of the Oral History Association.
